Art Samurai Homework part 1

Here are some assignments from doing Art Samurai. I feel I have a lot to learn

and I always learn something new from each workshop.

Original Wicked Witch and 2013 Wicked Witch

The theme for this week's assignment was compare and contrast.

Have the classic Wicked Witch interact with the current movie.

I focused on getting good likenesses in the faces and costumes but should've added more to their positioning and poses. It could be much more dynamic and dramatic!

Gesture drawings of boxers, a gymnast and a cat.

Character sketch from a gesture drawing.

The theme for this one was to do gesture sketches off of reference provided.

I think I did okay. I think they could have more flow and movement to them. I think I could take my character sketch a bit farther too.

Please check out Art Samurai for more info on workshops and assignments!

Yee-haw! Cowboy Cutouts!

Here are some caricatures that my client got blown up into cutouts!

Cool to see them "non digitally" and how they look big and in real life!

Table Sketch Doodles

These are some quick sketches drawn from seeing creatures in the patterns from the table top I was at when at a coffee shop. I see faces and weird creatures all the time in carpet patterns, on the ceiling, wood grains, anywhere there is some sort of pattern. I decided to draw what was there.

Napkin Sketch

Just a quick napkin sketch to kill time. A hamster choking a snake. Could have sort of sick connotation to it. Just random.

Family Caricature

Lintner Family

Some reference used

This is a recent caricature a family had commissioned me to do as a gift for their Husband/Dad.

They give him one every ten years! The wife and husband are not in the caricature but their children along with their spouses and children are (including animal grandchildren).

MC FLEX

Here are some caricatures of Michael Cole with the physique of Mr. Flex Wheeler!

I think my anatomy is getting better since I watch the workshops at ArtSamurai.net (shameless plug!)
